Supportive & Resilient Mental Health Support Worker

Experience

Minimum 6 months of experience in a mental health or care-related setting.
Experience working with individuals with complex or challenging behaviours is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals with a range of mental health needs to live as independently and safely as possible.
• Build therapeutic relationships and provide emotional reassurance during times of distress.
• Assist with daily living tasks such as meal prep, hygiene, medication prompts, and activities.
• Encourage and support service users to engage in social, vocational, or educational activities.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to follow and contribute to care plans.
• Monitor well-being and promptly report any changes or concerns to senior staff.
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold safeguarding and professional standards.

Skills Must Have

• A compassionate and patient approach to mental health support.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of mental health conditions, behaviours, and support strategies.
• Resilience and the ability to remain calm and supportive during challenging situations.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.
• Basic documentation and care record-keeping skills.
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (Mental Health focus preferred) or willingness to train.
• Right to work in the UK and willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
